The Poetess
So she leaned back in her chair
Gazing deep into her cup of something herbal
"What are you doing?"
I'm looking at you
I want to look at you so hard
that I will never forget
The way your hair
your eyes
Your words catch the Light
Then she tilted her head to look out the window
The chair creaked
"And what do you see?"
Oceanic chocolate eyes
Fine flecks of amber
defying gravity
Landscapes of tan and freckle
Undulations of sensuous shadow
and luscious light
Entire planets of curve and boundary
Worlds of Wonder
She snugged the cooling cup closer
Turned to face me
The Universe went away . . .
